Shahid Afridi Receives Prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz Award from President Zardari in Islamabad

Iconic Pakistani sportsman Shahid Khan Afridi was honored with the esteemed Hilal-e-Imtiaz, the nation's second-highest civilian distinction, by President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad. The moving event celebrated his exceptional dedication to the sport of cricket and his significant societal impact through philanthropic initiatives.

Celebrated globally by his nickname “Boom Boom,” Afridi captivated audiences for nearly two decades with his aggressive batting style and skillful leg-spin. His career spanned 27 Tests, 398 ODIs, and 99 T20Is, accumulating upwards of 11,000 international runs and claiming 541 wickets. He notably achieved the quickest ODI hundred in only 37 deliveries and captained Pakistan to their 2009 ICC T20 World Cup title.

Outside the stadium, Afridi has earned widespread acclaim for his humanitarian endeavors. Via the Shahid Afridi Foundation, he has established educational centers, medical facilities, and health units, focusing on underprivileged groups and those affected by floods.
