New Data Shows 763,000 Skilled Pakistanis Sought International Employment in 2025

 

Over 763,000 Pakistani laborers relocated overseas for employment in 2025 via formal and lawful routes, confirming that Pakistan continues to be a leading global supplier of human resources to the international job market.

Authorities noted that this substantial expatriate workforce remains a vital pillar in sustaining the country's economic stability.

A significant portion of these employees transmit funds back to their homeland as remittances, assisting millions of households in covering domestic bills, schooling fees, and living requirements. Simultaneously, these individuals add value to the economies of the host nations where they serve.

These statistics were presented during a 48-hour instructional workshop conducted in Islamabad. The forum was hosted by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development in collaboration with the International Labour Organization. The gathering was hosted under the "Advancing Safe and Fair Labour Migration" framework.

The project receives backing from global allies, including the European Union, GIZ Pakistan, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The initiative assembled state representatives to deliberate on superior frameworks for international recruitment and employee safety.

Throughout the seminar, attendees prioritized the refinement of hiring protocols, increasing the transparency of labor movement, and reinforcing regulations to shield personnel from mistreatment and biased conditions overseas.

Speakers stressed the necessity for secure and equitable migration strategies, ensuring Pakistani citizens can go abroad with legitimate paperwork, legal safeguards, and improved career prospects.

They also pointed out the significance of partnership between Pakistan and global agencies to guarantee that migrant laborers receive just treatment and that their fundamental rights are upheld.

Specialists maintain that upgrading labor migration structures will not only aid the workforce but also boost the volume of incoming remittances, which serve as a critical reservoir of foreign currency for the Pakistani economy.
