Over 4.3 Million International Tourists Visit Pakistan Over Two Years
Pakistan received more than 4.3 million foreign tourists during 2024 and 2025, according to figures presented by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination in the National Assembly on Friday.
The ministry reported that over 2.1 million foreign visitors arrived in Pakistan in 2024, while approximately 2.2 million visited the country in 2025. The figures provide an overview of international tourist arrivals over the two-year period.
Among the nationalities reported, Afghan visitors accounted for the largest number, with more than 1.216 million arrivals. The United Kingdom was another major source of visitors, contributing over 1.017 million people during the same period.
The United States also accounted for a considerable share, with more than 500,000 visitors travelling to Pakistan. In addition, around 260,000 visitors arrived from Iran, while approximately 234,000 came from Canada.
The figures highlight the range of countries from which people travelled to Pakistan, including neighbouring states and countries in Europe and North America.
Tourism can support economic growth by generating business for hotels, restaurants, transport operators, local shops and other visitor-related services. It also provides opportunities for cultural exchange and allows international travellers to explore Pakistan’s historical landmarks, natural scenery and local traditions.
Pakistan offers a variety of attractions, from the mountain destinations of the north to archaeological sites, historical landmarks and cultural centres in major cities. These locations appeal to travellers interested in nature, history and cultural experiences.
The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination shared the figures in response to a request for information in the National Assembly. The data outlines foreign arrivals during 2024 and 2025, with visitors from Afghanistan, the United Kingdom and the United States accounting for major portions of the reported figures.
Further improvements in tourism facilities, transportation and visitor services could help Pakistan accommodate international travellers more effectively and encourage the continued development of its tourism sector.
