GCU Student Finishes Epic 1,100-Km Lahore to Skardu Run in 22 Days
Government College University (GCU) Lahore student Faizan Ahmed Faiz has successfully completed a 1,100-kilometre run from Lahore to Skardu in 22 days. He arrived in Skardu on September 17 after passing through several areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Faizan, a third-semester Psychology student and member of the Falcon Triathlon Club, began his challenging journey from GCU’s historic Clock Tower on August 28. His route took him through Gujranwala, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Abbottabad, Naran, Babusar Top, Chilas and Raikot before he reached Skardu.
The demanding journey featured lengthy running stages, steep ascents, unpredictable weather and challenging mountainous terrain. According to GCU, Faizan has been involved in running for nearly eight years and had completed an 800-kilometre run just three months before taking on this latest challenge.
Faizan dedicated his run to Pakistan’s armed forces and police martyrs. Through the journey, he also aimed to raise awareness among young people about drug abuse while encouraging healthier and more active lifestyles.
