Punjab Food Authority Seals Motorway Mart Over Overpricing and Sale of Expired Products

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed a mart at a motorway rest area following multiple public complaints regarding overcharging and the sale of counterfeit, expired, and substandard products. According to officials, certain items with a market price of around Rs. 50 were allegedly being sold for up to Rs. 150, prompting immediate enforcement action.

Officials said the authority remains committed to protecting consumers while supporting businesses that comply with food safety regulations and consumer protection laws. They added that strict action will continue against outlets involved in overpricing, food adulteration, the sale of counterfeit goods, and the distribution of expired or low-quality products. The Punjab Food Authority has also encouraged the public to report such violations to help promote safe, fair, and transparent business practices across the province.
