Pakistan’s IT Exports Reach Record $4.6 Billion

 

Pakistan’s IT sector has posted record export earnings of $4.6 billion in FY2026, marking a 21% increase compared with the $3.8 billion recorded during the previous financial year.

IT exports reached $416 million in June alone, enabling the country to exceed the government’s annual export target of $4.5 billion. The strong performance reflects the continued expansion of Pakistan’s digital services and technology industry.

Pakistani technology companies are increasingly expanding into MENAP and European markets, creating greater opportunities in software development, digital services, IT outsourcing, and other technology-based industries.

The government is also targeting further growth under the Uraan Pakistan initiative, with an ambitious goal of increasing IT exports to $10 billion by FY2029.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s domestic mobile phone assembly sector recorded a decline, with approximately 1.93 million units produced in June.

Despite the drop in local mobile production, the record IT export performance highlights the growing importance of Pakistan’s technology industry. Continued expansion in digital services could help boost foreign exchange earnings, employment, and investment while strengthening the country’s position in the global digital economy.
