Road Safety Push: CTO Lahore Orders Immediate Driving License Suspension After Traffic Mishaps

The Lahore Traffic Police department has officially suspended the driving privileges of 68 motorists implicated in recent vehicular collisions, acting under direct instructions from Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim to elevate public safety standards and enforce stricter road compliance.

According to an official statement from the department's media wing, any motorist found responsible for a traffic accident—regardless of whether it results in fatal or non-fatal injuries—will now face immediate administrative license suspension. Authorities explicitly cautioned that operating a motor vehicle while carrying a suspended license will trigger immediate criminal prosecution.

CTO Syed Abdul Rahim clarified that operators convicted of gross negligence or hazardous driving will lose their driving privileges for a minimum duration of one year. For incidents involving fatalities, the individuals responsible will face a dual penalty of indefinite license revocation alongside formal criminal indictments.

The provincial traffic chief underscored that dangerous driving behaviors will meet a zero-tolerance policy, confirming that aggressive enforcement measures will persist across the metropolitan grid to safeguard civic life and property.
