Infrastructure Update: Enhanced Security Networks Deployed Across Balochistan's Highway System

The provincial administration of Balochistan has resolved to institute a structured convoy mechanism along regional highways to safeguard freight trucks, passenger buses, and civilian commuters.

This security policy was disclosed by Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqaat during an official consultation with delegates from the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI).

The discussions centered primarily on the deteriorating security conditions along major transit routes and the mounting hazards encountered by logistic firms, commuters, and regional commercial enterprises.

Shafqaat emphasized that ensuring unhindered and secure vehicular movement remains a primary administrative objective, reiterating the government's resolve to stabilize the law-and-order situation across the provincial road network.

As an immediate protective measure, authorities confirmed the imminent deployment of armed escorts to accompany commercial fleets moving from the Taftan border crossing into Quetta and onwards to other domestic markets.

The defensive protocol was initiated following formal appeals by QCCI members, who highlighted a recurring pattern of targeted ambushes on supply trucks, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) bowsers, and private transport.

The chamber representatives pressed for targeted interventions to secure transport operators and ordinary citizens traversing these isolated trade corridors.

Spokespersons for the corporate sector noted that persistent incidents of vehicle arson and highway dacoities have severely disrupted trade logistics, fostering widespread apprehension among trading bodies, transit passengers, and the public.
