Anum Wazir Makes History by Winning Pakistan’s First 100km Galyat Mountain Ultra

Anum Uzair has etched her name in the history books by claiming victory in the women’s division of Pakistan’s inaugural 100km Galyat Mountain Trail Ultra Marathon. The event was held across July 18 and 19, 2026, set against the scenic backdrop of the Galyat range near Nathia Gali.

Roughly 400 athletes from Pakistan and abroad competed across multiple distance categories. In the grueling 100-kilometer men's event, Athar Akhtar and Muzammil Shahzad crossed the finish line together to share top honors, while Anum Uzair secured her place as the landmark competition's first female winner.

A seasoned mountaineer and off-road runner, Anum displayed extraordinary endurance and resolve while conquering the demanding high-altitude circuit. Dedicating her accomplishment to Pakistani women—particularly aspiring sports figures—she urged them to boldly pursue ambitions in outdoor endurance disciplines.

Serving as the cornerstone of the fifth annual Galyat Mountain Trail gathering, the course held official certification from the International Trail Running Association. Participants navigated sharp inclines, unpredictable climate shifts, and technical mountain paths winding through dense woods and towering ridges.

Reflecting on the achievement, Anum shared that she overcame harsh weather hazards and potential wildlife encounters by maintaining strict mental focus. Looking ahead, she aims to tackle even greater athletic expeditions while advancing Pakistan's presence in global mountain running—leaving behind a powerful precedent for the nation's rising athletes.
