Recent PTA Survey Reveals Broadband Companies Struggle with Essential Service Tests
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has instructed internet service providers (ISPs) to upgrade their infrastructure after discovering sluggish connectivity in 31 major urban centers, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
These findings were part of the PTA’s Quality of Service (QoS) audit for fixed-line broadband networks conducted in Q1 2026.
The evaluation measured Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) against essential key performance indicators (KPIs) to verify the reliability and quality of the network for the general public.
While most companies are hitting primary targets for network uptime, jitter, and latency, the assessment highlighted specific technical weaknesses in various sectors of the infrastructure.
The regulator noted that intense data consumption during peak hours is causing network congestion, resulting in reduced speeds and a poor user experience.
Consequently, the PTA has ordered the involved providers to implement immediate repairs to boost performance and meet the required QoS benchmarks.
The authority reaffirmed its dedication to improving the country’s broadband standards and user satisfaction. The complete Q1 2026 QoS report is now accessible for public review on the PTA’s official website.
