New E-Bike Initiative Offers 1 Lac Govt Workers Rs. 80,000 Subsidy and Flexible Payment Options
To reduce the national oil import bill amid surging global fuel prices, the Federal Government has opted to supply electric motorcycles to its workforce.
A total of 76,000 electric bikes are set for distribution to qualified candidates.
Through this initiative, a subsidy of Rs. 80,000 will be granted for every e-bike.
This development follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent endorsement of a preliminary strategy to provide electric transport to specific groups of government personnel.
Application Process
Public sector employees who receive their pay via the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR) are eligible to participate.
To apply, staff must provide an official AGPR verification document.
The application for the subsidy does not require any personal guarantees.
A dedicated quota is set aside for media professionals, who can acquire the bikes through self-financing, unlike other groups who have access to installment plans.
A specific allocation for female media workers will be introduced during the second phase.
The subsidy will be issued only after the motorcycle is officially registered in the applicant's name.
The opening phase encountered some verification hurdles when the National Database and Registration Authority faced technical difficulties with certain applicants. Nevertheless, 40,000 citizens successfully received their subsidies during that initial period.
