Zalmi Clinch a Thriller: Peshawar Edge Past Hyderabad in PSL 11 Nail-Biter

The National Stadium in Karachi witnessed a tactical masterclass today as Peshawar Zalmi secured a hard-fought 4-wicket victory over the Hyderabad Kingsmen. After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Zalmi’s bowling unit—led by the seasoned Iftikhar Ahmed and the rising Sufyan Moqim—stifled the Kingsmen's batting lineup. Both bowlers claimed four wickets apiece, dismantling Hyderabad for a modest total of 145 runs in 18.2 overs. Despite a valiant half-century from Kusal Perera (58 off 35), the Kingsmen struggled to build momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Peshawar’s chase was a calculated affair, anchored by the reliable Babar Azam, who top-scored with a steady 43. While Hyderabad’s bowlers, particularly Saim Ayub (2 wickets), kept the pressure high and pushed the game into the final over, the experience of the Zalmi middle order shone through. Iftikhar Ahmed capped off a Player of the Match performance by staying unbeaten with 15 runs, guiding his team to the target of 146 with just four wickets and zero balls to spare in a finish that kept the Karachi crowd on the edge of their seats.

This result leaves the Hyderabad Kingsmen still searching for their first win of the season, highlighting a desperate need to bolster their lower-order stability. Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi continues to climb the points table, showing the kind of composure required to thrive in high-pressure scenarios. As the PSL 11 season intensifies, Zalmi looks like a formidable contender, while Hyderabad must go back to the drawing board before their next outing at the National Bank Stadium.
