Educational Institutions in Islamabad to Close for Four-Day Period

Islamabad’s academic centers are slated for a four-day hiatus following the local administration's declaration of public holidays on April 9 and 10.

With the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) authorities designating Thursday and Friday as official holidays, coupled with the standard Saturday and Sunday weekend, students across the federal capital will benefit from an extended break.

The directive, issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, specifies that the closure applies to the revenue limits of the capital. Notably, essential public services and vital government departments are exempt and will remain operational.

While the formal announcement does not explicitly name schools and colleges, the holiday mandate effectively ensures that all educational facilities will be shut.

This administrative measure coincides with intensified security and logistical preparations in Islamabad for upcoming high-level diplomatic engagements. Pakistan is positioned to facilitate critical discussions between the United States and Iran, following a reported 14-day ceasefire.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has endorsed the truce and extended the invitation for bilateral talks, thrusting Islamabad into a pivotal mediation role during this period of regional sensitivity.
