The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially entered a new chapter by naming a 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, marking the debut of former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as Head Coach. Under the leadership of Shan Masood, the selection committee has signaled a clear youth movement by including four uncapped players: Abdullah Fazal, Azan Awais, Amad Butt, and wicketkeeper Muhammad Ghazi Ghori. These fresh inclusions come at the expense of several established names, with Aamir Jamal and Abdullah Shafique notably missing out as the team looks to revitalize its red-ball strategy.
The squad features a heavy emphasis on experience in the bowling department, headlined by Shaheen Shah Afridi and the return of veteran seamer Mohammad Abbas, alongside the spin duo of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan. This series, which forms a vital part of the ICC World Test Championship, kicks off in Dhaka on May 8, followed by the second Test in Sylhet on May 16. With Pakistan currently sitting in the middle of the WTC table, this tour represents a high-stakes audition for the next generation of talent as they transition from the white-ball fervor of the recently concluded PSL 11 to the grueling demands of Test cricket.
