Babusar Top Road Closed Due to Heavy Snowfall
Heavy rainfall and snowfall have prompted authorities to suspend traffic on Babusar Top Road in Mansehra district as temperatures continue to fall across the region. The route was closed at Gati Das on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, due to deteriorating weather conditions.
According to reports citing local authorities, Shahrah-e-Mansehra was also temporarily closed to all traffic from Zero Point Gilgit. The restrictions were imposed as a cold wave affected the area, making travel along mountainous roads increasingly difficult.
The district administration confirmed that roads leading to the Kaghan and Naran valleys remain open to traffic. Officials said the affected routes would be reopened once snowfall ends and weather conditions become safe for travel.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department had forecast rain, strong winds and thunderstorms in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and other northern regions on Tuesday. Isolated hailstorms were also expected in some areas.
Babusar Top is a high-altitude mountain pass connecting Kaghan Valley with the Chilas area of Gilgit-Baltistan. The route is particularly vulnerable to snowfall and harsh weather, especially towards the end of the year.
Travellers planning trips to northern Pakistan are advised to check the latest road and weather updates with local authorities before departing and to avoid travelling on routes affected by severe weather.
