PM Shehbaz Says Rs.800 Billion Recovered in One Year Without New Taxes

 

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan recovered Rs.800 billion over the past year through stronger enforcement and improved revenue collection, without imposing additional taxes on the public.

The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of Pakistan’s business and industrial community. He said the government was pursuing structural reforms aimed at improving economic performance and strengthening cooperation with the private sector.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that increasing exports should remain a major priority for Pakistan. According to the prime minister, sustainable economic growth will depend on expanding exports, attracting investment and improving productivity across the economy.

The government has also been consulting business representatives on economic reforms and tax policies. The discussions are intended to address private-sector concerns while creating a more supportive environment for investment, business expansion and export growth.

According to Shehbaz, the reported Rs.800 billion recovery was achieved through enforcement and better use of existing revenue mechanisms, rather than through the introduction of new taxes.

The government is also focusing on improving tax compliance and making revenue collection more efficient through existing systems.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed that continued government-business cooperation would be essential for Pakistan’s economic progress. He said reforms should create conditions that allow businesses to expand, attract greater investment and strengthen exports.
