Petrol Discount Scheme for Bikes, Rickshaws, Qingis and Cars – How to Apply?

The Ministry of Information Technology has announced the registration process for the Prime Minister’s Special Petrol Relief Scheme, which will provide eligible citizens with a Rs. 100 per litre discount on petrol.

A digital registration and verification system has been developed in collaboration with NADRA, telecom companies and provincial departments to facilitate the scheme.

Under the initiative, owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc will qualify for subsidized petrol. Motorcycle and Qingqi rickshaw owners can receive discounted petrol for up to 20 litres per month, while owners of vehicles up to 800cc will be eligible for 30 litres per month.

Vehicle details will be verified through an automated system linked with provincial transport and excise departments.

To register, applicants must send an SMS from a SIM registered in their own name containing their CNIC number, vehicle registration number, provincial code and registration date. Successful applicants will receive a confirmation message.

Before purchasing discounted petrol, registered users must send “TOK” to 9771 to obtain a token. The token can then be presented at participating petrol stations to avail the discount.

The subsidized petrol supply in Islamabad is expected to begin between Monday and Tuesday midnight, while distribution across other parts of the country will start between Wednesday and Thursday midnight.
