Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Remembered as Lahore’s Defender

 

Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, a recipient of Pakistan’s highest military award, the Nishan-e-Haider, is being remembered today on the 61st anniversary of his martyrdom.

During the 1965 Indo-Pak war, Major Aziz Bhatti led his troops in the Burki area of Lahore, where Pakistani forces defended the strategically important BRB Canal against repeated artillery and tank attacks.

He remained with his forward platoon for five days and nights, displaying remarkable courage and determination while facing intense enemy fire.

On September 12, 1965, Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed embraced martyrdom after being hit by an enemy tank shell while defending the country.

His bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to Pakistan continue to be remembered as a lasting symbol of courage, patriotism, and devotion to the homeland.
