M-1, M-14 and E-35 Motorways to Reopen From Tomorrow

The M-1, M-14 and E-35 Hazara Motorway are set to reopen for traffic from 6:00 AM on September 27, 2026, according to the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP).

The reopening will restore access to several major routes connecting Islamabad with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern areas of Punjab.

The highways had been closed or restricted as part of security measures introduced ahead of planned political activity in the federal capital. The restrictions affected important sections of the M-1, M-14 and E-35, causing difficulties for motorists travelling between Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The decision to reopen the routes comes after the postponement of PTI’s planned Islamabad long march from September 27 to October 4.

With the restrictions being lifted, commuters are expected to regain access to the major road links from Sunday morning. However, motorists have been advised to remain alert and follow any updated traffic or security instructions issued by the authorities.

The reopening is also expected to improve transportation for private vehicles, public transport and commercial traffic travelling between Islamabad, Peshawar, northern Punjab and areas along the Hazara corridor.
