Islamabad Container Deployment to Cost Govt Rs. 46.5 Million Per Day

Security preparations in Islamabad are continuing after the PTI postponed its planned protest, with authorities maintaining arrangements ahead of the revised October 4 date.

According to police sources, the government is spending around Rs. 46.5 million per day on 1,550 containers being used for security arrangements. The expense could increase further if the containers remain deployed for an extended period.

Additional costs reportedly include food, accommodation, and transportation for police personnel brought in from Punjab and Sindh. Vehicles and hotel accommodation have also been arranged for security officials involved in the preparations.

The PTI had originally announced its long march for September 27 but later moved the protest to October 4. Security arrangements have remained in place, with authorities reportedly taking additional measures in various parts of the capital.

Reports also suggest that thousands of container vehicles have been taken into custody in several cities as authorities prepare for potential road blockages and other security requirements linked to the protest.

The extended security preparations could increase pressure on public funds, particularly if personnel, vehicles, and other equipment remain deployed for several days. The overall cost will depend on the duration and scale of the security operation.

Authorities are expected to reassess the security situation as October 4 approaches. Any road closures, diversions, or restrictions could also affect commuters and businesses in Islamabad.a
