Murree Restricts Entry of Non-Family Groups Ahead of August 14

Murree has imposed Section 144 from August 10 to 16 ahead of Independence Day celebrations, with authorities introducing enhanced security and traffic measures across the hill station.

DPO Murree Raza Tanveer Supra, in a video message, urged residents and tourists to obey the law and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure a peaceful environment.

Under the new restrictions, only families will be allowed on Mall Road, while entry for non-family groups will remain prohibited. The DPO warned that hooliganism, inappropriate behaviour, and activities disturbing public order would not be tolerated.

Authorities have also strictly prohibited aerial firing and the public display of weapons. Motorcyclists involved in wheelies or dangerous stunts will also face legal action.

The DPO further advised visitors to avoid fireworks and other prohibited activities, warning that violations of Section 144 would result in strict action without discrimination.

Raza Tanveer Supra encouraged citizens to celebrate Independence Day peacefully and responsibly, emphasizing that the protection of public lives and property remains the police’s primary responsibility.
