KPK Proposes 250% Salary Increase for Police Officers
The salaries of police officers and personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) could receive a substantial boost if a new proposal for a Hard Area Allowance is approved by the federal government.
The proposal is aimed at police personnel involved in counterterrorism duties, particularly those serving in areas facing greater security risks. According to police officials, the KP Home Department has already forwarded recommendations to the federal government for consideration.
Under the proposed arrangement, authorities will identify districts that qualify for hard area status and submit the details to the federal government. The plan currently covers all KP districts except Swabi and the Hazara Division.
KP police officials said the province initially approached the federal government in March 2025, seeking hard area status for its police force. The demand is linked to the security challenges faced by personnel combating terrorism, as well as differences in police salaries compared with other provinces.
If approved, the proposed allowance could lead to an increase of up to 250% in the basic salaries of eligible police officers and personnel. However, the proposal has not yet been implemented.
The final decision now rests with the federal government. If approval is granted, a formal notification will be issued, after which eligible KP police personnel would receive the proposed benefit.
