Government Approves Rs. 27.6 Billion for Sialkot–Kharian Motorway Project
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved a sovereign guarantee worth Rs. 27.6 billion for the Sialkot–Kharian Motorway project, paving the way for the financial arrangements required to move the project forward. The approval is expected to support the timely execution and completion of this major infrastructure initiative.
Upon completion, the Sialkot–Kharian Motorway will provide faster and more efficient travel between the two cities while improving connectivity with nearby areas. The modern highway is expected to shorten travel times, enhance road safety, and facilitate smoother movement of both passengers and freight.
The motorway is also expected to boost regional trade and logistics by providing better transport links for businesses, industries, and exporters. Improved infrastructure will help streamline supply chains, lower transportation costs, and enhance the overall efficiency of commercial activities in the region.
Officials say the project will contribute to economic growth by attracting investment, creating employment opportunities during and after construction, and supporting long-term regional development. The initiative reflects the government's continued commitment to expanding Pakistan’s transport network and strengthening connectivity to promote sustainable economic progress.
