Travel Cost Hike: NHA Implements Higher Toll Rates on Lahore-Islamabad Motorway
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has declared a 7 percent hike in toll fees for travelers utilizing the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2), with the updated pricing taking effect on July 5, 2026. Based on an official notification, this adjusted tariff structure will remain enforced through April 23, 2027.
This upward revision is being introduced in accordance with the concession agreement finalized between the NHA and Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited—a corporate subsidiary of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO)—governing the resurfacing and technological modernization of the M-2 corridor.
The updated toll rates for various vehicle classifications are outlined below:
| Vehicle Category | Toll Per Kilometer (Rs.) | New Toll (Rs.) |
|---|---|---|
| Cars, Jeeps, and Taxis | 3.98 | 1,430 |
| Wagons | 6.68 | 2,390 |
| Coasters | 9.34 | 3,350 |
| Buses | 13.32 | 4,770 |
| Trucks (2 & 3 Axle) | 17.33 | 6,210 |
| Articulated Trucks | 22.29 | 7,980 |
Drivers planning to travel along the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway are urged to check the updated fare framework before embarking on their journeys, as the new operational costs apply starting July 5, 2026.
