Roster Confirmed: Pakistan Reveals 23-Player Contingent for High-Profile International Football Championship

Pakistan's primary tactician Nolberto Solano has unveiled a 23-player roster for the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament hosted in the Maldives, with the lineup scheduled to participate in the four-country competition from June 1 to 10.

The selection features a combination of home-based athletes and overseas-rooted professionals as Pakistan persists with its conditioning for forthcoming continental challenges, including the SAFF Championship.

Across the backline, Solano has selected Abdullah Iqbal, Muhammad Fazal, Abdullah Shah, Essah Suleman, Mohib Afridi, Mamoon Musa, Ali Nazi, and Haris Zeb.

The core midfield setup comprises Adil Nabi, Rahis Nabi, Alamgir Ghazi, Hayyan Khattak, Ali Agha, and Otis Khan.

Pakistan’s attacking frontline highlights Shayak Dost, Umer Nawaz, Ali Shah, Ali Khan, Samad Arshad, and Harun Hamid.

The championship in Malé will feature Pakistan launching their journey against the Bangladesh U23 squad during the inaugural fixture. The event is regarded as a vital window for the technical management to experiment with tactical pairings and develop squad depth before upcoming fixtures.

The roster revelation has also generated debate among supporters, with several enthusiasts raising eyebrows over the omission of figures like Tufail Shinwari and Omar Rao. Tufail especially had drawn notice due to his recent showings and goal setups during fixtures against Afghanistan and Myanmar.

Nevertheless, the current choices indicate Solano is persisting with a fusion of domestic and immigrant talent while he crafts his fundamental pool for the upcoming season.
