State Bank of Pakistan Reports 50% Surge in Freelance Revenue, Reaching $856 Million Over Nine Months

Pakistan’s freelance industry is expanding rapidly, with substantial revenues recorded during the current fiscal period. Data from the State Bank of Pakistan reveals that local freelancers accumulated nearly $856 million from IT and computer services in the first nine months of FY2025–26. This reflects a growth of more than 50% compared to the corresponding period in the prior year.

The $289 million increase underscores the rising global interest in Pakistani freelance talent. Professionals across the country are delivering services in web development, graphic design, copywriting, and digital marketing to international employers. Marketplaces like Upwork and Fiverr have been vital in linking this local expertise with a worldwide client base.

Industry observers credit this expansion to better connectivity, digital literacy efforts, and a motivated young workforce embracing remote careers. Both government-sponsored initiatives and private-sector coaching are playing a major role in bringing more individuals into the digital economy.

Pakistan is currently recognized as one of the world's premier freelance hubs, and this steady climb in income highlights the sector's vast capabilities.

If these current trends hold, the freelance sector is on track to become a vital pillar of foreign exchange for the country over the next several years.
