Govt Takes Back Decision to Increase Toll Taxes

The National Highway Authority has canceled its announcement about changing toll prices on highways and motorways, effective right away.

In a notice released on April 3, the agency stated that its previous April 1 order regarding the toll price update has been scrapped. This decision follows orders from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to stop the planned 25 percent quarterly hike in toll taxes.

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan explained that the move was made to help the public during the current difficult economic times.

He confirmed that no toll price increases will happen during the 2025–26 financial year, noting that the goal is to lower costs for drivers and transport companies. The minister added that more efforts will be made to help the people as directed by the prime minister.
