Government Declares Nationwide Public Holiday on May 1 for Labour Day
Pakistan has confirmed a countrywide general holiday on Friday, May 1, 2026, in observance of Labour Day.
The central administration shared the update recently. All state departments, commercial firms, and educational facilities will be closed.
Labour Day, frequently called May Day or Youm-e-Mazdoor, is marked annually on the first of May.
The date commemorates the historic efforts of workers for improved pay, safer environments, and equitable treatment.
Since May 1 occurs on a Friday this year, citizens will benefit from a three-day weekend alongside Saturday and Sunday.
Labour Day emphasizes the vital contribution of the working class in driving the country's financial growth. It serves as a reminder for all to value and uphold the rights of those employed in industrial units, agriculture, and corporate spaces.
