Quetta Gladiators Off the Mark with Dominant Win Over Hyderabad

The Quetta Gladiators have officially opened their PSL 11 account, securing a convincing 40-run victory over the Hyderabad Kingsmen at Gaddafi Stadium. Defending a competitive total of 174, Quetta’s disciplined bowling unit stifled the Kingsmen, restricting them to a modest 134/8.

The chase derailed early for Hyderabad as Alzarri Joseph and Abrar Ahmed tore through the top order during the powerplay. Despite middle-order resistance from Irfan Khan Niazi and Hassan Khan, the required rate climbed out of reach. Abrar Ahmed remained the standout, consistently dismantling partnerships whenever Hyderabad threatened to find their rhythm.

Earlier in the evening, Shamyl Hussain continued his stellar run of form, anchoring the Gladiators' innings with a crucial half-century. He found a reliable partner in Hasan Nawaz, whose own fifty helped stabilize the side after early wobbles. A late-innings surge from Tom Curran pushed the score to 174/8, a target that ultimately proved too steep for the Kingsmen despite Riley Meredith’s impressive three-wicket haul.
