New $10 million investment aims to bridge the education gap for out-of-school children in AJK

 


ISLAMABAD: A significant educational milestone has been reached in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with the launch of a comprehensive initiative designed to extend schooling opportunities to thousands of vulnerable children throughout the region.

Formally titled the “Out of School Children Project,” this $10 million endeavor is being executed with the strategic support of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). According to official documentation obtained by Wealth Pakistan, the agreement was finalized on January 19, 2026, marking a decisive shift toward systematic educational reform and improved accessibility in the territory.

Operational Framework and Implementation

The project is slated for execution by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department of the Government of AJK. While the initiative is currently navigating its final preparatory phases—focusing on the logistical and administrative groundwork—it is expected to transition into full operational status shortly. Financial disbursements and physical works are scheduled to commence immediately following the conclusion of this preparatory cycle.
