HEC Finalizes Schedule for the 2026 Law Admission Test (LAT)

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has officially finalized the schedule for the remaining three Law Admission Tests (LAT) of 2026, a mandatory requirement for students seeking entry into five-year undergraduate LLB programs. This assessment is essential for enrollment in any law college or university recognized by the HEC or the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC). Eligibility is extended to students who have completed their Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or an equivalent Grade 12 education, as well as those currently awaiting their final results. To pass the 100-mark examination, candidates must secure at least 50 marks across a variety of components, including a written essay, a personal statement, and multiple-choice questions covering English, General Knowledge, Islamic Studies, Pakistan Studies, Urdu, and basic Mathematics.

The third cycle of the year will be announced on May 10, 2026, with the online registration portal remaining open until May 25. Following the issuance of roll number slips on June 11, the examination will take place on Sunday, June 21, and results will be declared by August 3. Shortly after, the fourth LAT will be announced on July 26, requiring candidates to complete their registration by August 10. For this session, slips will be distributed on August 28 for a test date of September 6, with results expected on October 16.

The fifth and final opportunity for 2026 will be announced on October 4, with a registration deadline of October 20. Roll number slips for this final session will be issued on November 6, leading to the examination on November 15 and the final result announcement on December 24. On the day of their respective exams, applicants must arrive at the test center with their original CNIC, Passport, or B-Form, alongside their academic credentials. For further guidance or technical assistance, the HEC advises all prospective law students to consult the official HEC website or utilize the designated helpline services.
